Familiar Tune

(Original composition of Arvie Ortega)

It’s been a while that silence is playing

I can only hear, the sound of my breathing

And as I gaze around, I see white and gray

Always the same... day by day

But little do I notice, the colors of spring

Did I just see red, blue and green?

What is this sweet sound, as light as a whisper?

Did I just hear, a music playing?...

Journey

(Original Composition of ARVIE ORTEGA)

I can still feel the breeze, touching my face

As I travel the world, going place to place

Not knowing where, or when this journey ends

It might take a while, might involve a lot of risks

But I'm not quitting, 'till finally in your embrace

Longing for the time, when we finally meet

Are you just the same, wandering on earth

Or someone out there, who patiently waits

Come out, an...

Riding The Wave

My family went out for a beach picnic with our household friends. Horseshoe Bay is one of Bermuda’s best beaches but for some reason the waves today were peculiarly so high and the rip currents were strong. For an adventurous guy like me, I went ahead and faced the waves. Suddenly my 2 year old son wanted to join me. If there’s one thing I learned about little boys, it’s that they want so much to imitate people, especially their father. So I took him to the shore, just knee ...

March 6, 2011 (Notes from my Journal)

I just attended the Contemplative Prayer training given by Sis Nina and Bro Rouquel last Saturday, March 5, 2011 at St. Theresa. I am so grateful for Sis Nina and Bro. Rouquel for bringing the Holy Spirit in the training.  I just want to share to everyone the experience I had during the workshop/exercise in the training. Sis Nina told us that in understanding a story in the bible, we need to close our eyes and imagine that we are...

Allow God to Bless You

It was going to be me and my wife’s first cruise ship experience. We were looking for the least number of nights to avoid over consumption of our vacation leaves. The trip was meant to celebrate my birthday and Valentines Day. So we got this Miami-to-Bahamas cruise and got a room with a window overlooking the sea and downtown Bahamas. Before we left Bermuda, we were hesitating to bring Tony...

Plane Talk

By Father Michael Sehler, S.J.

In June of 2007, I boarded a flight to Chicago from JFK in New York. Luckily, I was bumped up to first class. Usually sandwiched in coach, I was glad for a seat that was shaped more like my body, with leg room and with space enough for my own thoughts, that, I hoped would drift into dreams.

My seatmate however, would have none...

You Are Still My Number One

Eighteen hours of waiting, labor, and different types of discomfort and pain, my wife with no food except for an IV (intravenous), patiently went thru the remarkable birthing process.

On June 1, 2009 11:23 pm, Luke Anthony E. Autor was born. He is the most amazing baby in the world. Of course, I have to say that, I'm his Dad! At 9 lbs 1 oz and 19" long, he ...

A Seed in Time by Joseph Palubeski, CR, 1983

A Seed in Time

A seed held precious and cherished until

The universal gardener, the soil he did till

He thrust it beneath the surface of land

Where there in cold and darkness it did stand.

The tears of his love to water it did fall,

A Symbol of Endless Love

Not all married couples wear wedding rings because of certain beliefs , traditions, or religions. But, for someone like me who accepted my husband's symbol of love and loyalty (my wedding ring) in front of a Catholic priest and a number of witnesses, it is my most sentimentally valued possession.  Until one day when we had a family outing here in Bermuda, I went looking for it miserably.

     We were in...

By staring at all the pictures you have sent,

It eases the loneliness I felt!

By hearing your lovely voice,

I gather strenght!

By reading your e-mails,

It gives me audacity!

By sharing your problems,

I feel my worth!
